Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Citeon collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who we are
Citeon (“Citeon”, “we”, “us”) operates the website at citeon.ai and the Citeon AI-visibility platform. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
- Legal entity: [Citeon B.V. — confirm registered name]
- Registered office: Rotterdam, The Netherlands
- Chamber of Commerce (KvK): [number]
- Contact: privacy@citeon.ai
2. The data we collect
- Information you give us — your name, email address, company, website and the contents of messages when you request a visibility check, start a trial, contact us or subscribe.
- Usage & device data — pages viewed, approximate location (from IP), browser and device type, collected to operate and improve the site.
- Public web data — to deliver the service we analyse publicly available information about your brand and its presence in AI search results. This is not special-category personal data.
3. Why we use it & our legal bases
- To provide, secure and improve the service — performance of a contract and our legitimate interests.
- To respond to enquiries and send service messages — legitimate interests / your request.
- To send marketing emails where permitted — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations — legal obligation.
4. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and local storage (for example, to remember your light/dark theme preference and your cookie choice). We only set analytics or marketing cookies with your consent via the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the citeon-consent value in your browser.
5. Sharing & processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with vetted service providers who process it on our behalf under a data-processing agreement — for example hosting (Vercel), email delivery, and the AI model providers used to run analyses. Each acts on our instructions.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or anonymise it.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access, rectify or erase your personal data;
- restrict or object to processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@citeon.ai.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and review our measures regularly.
10. Children
Citeon is a business tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above.
